Removing a dummy (pacifier, pacifier, binkie )….?

My son is 21 months and is often awake during the night of her doll. I do not have much in the day – only when fatigued or whingy. I'm thinking of taking, but worries that he will begin to rise at 5 am (when awake, but doses reversing a mannequin). What is the best way to get rid of it? Is age appropriate?
